Thanks for the interesting summary.
It really is true what they say. Post something wrong, and soon enough someone will correct you. Maybe you could even think of this as a clever way of crafting an effective question.
Many African countries are already implementing this system, and with great success, you could argue. Well… as far as the amount is bloodshed and bodycount are concerned. I mean, if someone thought of killing another person, it must have been for a valid reason, right? Obviously, the evil ones are the first to go in a situation like that.
There should be some sort of justice system for deciding these matters.
If we allow people to kill when they think it’s justified, we’re going to have pure chaos in our hands. If you want to watch the world burn, this is how you do it.
Getting banned doesn’t really have the same impact. In both cases, you can still register with a new email, but on Lemmy, you can also choose a different instance.
A similar setup can also be seen in the ownership of apartments buildings. You can have a limited liability company that manages major renovations and other expenses that concern the building as a whole. The idea is that you own shares in that company, which gives you the right to live in a specific apartment. In practice, you can still treat the inside as if you owned everything, although technically everything is still owned cooperatively.
If you buy stocks, you’re essentially just hoping to find someone who is willing to pay more for the same thing. If you own property and rent it out, you’re providing a service to someone who needs it. In the latter case, you’re creating value.
I have no problem with landlords.
Those who own apartments are also taking some big risks I’m not comfortable with. When something requires maintenance, it’s usually something very expensive.
This means that either the landlord has to have like 50 k€ ready for emergencies or be willing to borrow money from a bank and pay back with interest.
Turns out, I have an old dumb FullHD TV that should be ideal for this experiment. So, if I watch a YT video on 1080p, I should be able to see compression artefacts that are invisible when using a higher resolution. How is that supposed to work anyway, given that the browser knows the output resolution? Will it just download a higher resolution video, drop every other pixel, and display the rest?
I haven’t noticed anything. Would you do me a disservice and explain what I’m missing in my blissful ignorance. Make me see something that can never be unseen.
Even if the assassin is identified, there will be conspiracy theories and rumors. Now that I think of it, the part with murder and death is completely optional. There will always be conspiracies, as long as the person in question is famous enough.
The human mind seems to have some sort of built-in tribalism. Throughout history, humans have gravitated towards favoring the in-group and discriminating the out-group. The difference between those groups could be skin color, language, religion, family name or anything. Could be literally anything, no matter how trivial or silly. There have been some interesting studies about this.

I really thought you weren’t American, because of the way you see the situation. I’m looking at that dumpster fire from the outside, and can’t help but think about many of the same questions you seem to have. Sounds like you might have grown up in a multicultural environment, where modern hate media and polarization sounds completely alien to you.
Also: rule of cool.
That seems to be the answer to pretty much all the weird stuff you see in MCU movies. If it’s cool, they’ll throw it on the screen. If not, there’s a pretty good chance it gets cut before release.
The original comic books may have evaluated various decisions in the same light, but it really depends. Some comics were highly whimsical, where anything goes, while others were more serious and dark. I haven’t read the original hulk comics, so I can’t really tell if it was meant to be harmless fun where nothing is taken seriously.

Scoripon in Cyberpunk 2077 had a very similar idea.
There is some record of this comment.
The evidence of its existence is disputed among comment historians. However, they are unanimous about one thing: if it existed, it was a stupid comment that should have been deleted immediately after it was written.
Some also claim this comment was edited, but the evidence for that is highly questionable, borderline fabricated.
Maybe the devs were debating whether it’s possible for a simulated sentient intelligence to figure out it’s in a simulation. What if there was a bet, and the only way to prove other dev wrong was to actually build the simulation and let it run its course. I mean, it’s just a quick little experiment about a single universe in 3D space with linear time.
