I have been a bit ill, so haven’t been around much, and not playing much either.
I did finish Demon’s Souls though. That was fun. Have lots of work piled up for weekend and next week, but if I get time, I would like to get back to Dragon Quest XI
What about all of you? What have you been playing?
MAaaaaaaaaaarioooo ;)
SO and I started a new farm on Stardew Valley so we’ll most likely be playing that all weekend
Ah, nice! I have never played it in co-op. How does it work?
It is a lot of fun! There is one main player who holds the save file and others can join and live in cabins on the farm. The cabins can be upgraded just like the farmhouse and every player has their own inventory, skills, and money.
The only thing that sucks is that time never stops when multiple players are in the game. Idk if there is a workaround, but it makes days go by way too fast later on in the game when you have more daily tasks to do before heading to the mines/cavern. You really have to work as a team and assign responsibilities otherwise you don’t have time for any exploration
Ah, sounds fun.
Is there no way to change the speed of time? I remember My Time at Portia had a way to change something like that.
As far as I know there isn’t :/ I was thinking it may be to offset how much more can be done every day with multiple people working on the same farm
Yeah, maybe it’s intentional.
As a patient gamer, I’m focused on Spirit Farer. I was lost wandering the sea for a little while there, after setting the game down and coming back to it, but I just found a bit I had been missing and seem to be on my way again.
Hey, a fellow patient gamer! I loved Spirtifarer, a very chill and relaxing game. Enjoy!
I checked in on the Gorons and explored all over Death Mountain in TOTK. Gonna take a break before heading down to see what’s going on in Kakariko Village.
Planning on playing something new to me like checks notes Assassin’s Creed 2. 😛
Ive never played any game in the series but heard a random podcaster talk about his appreciation of the series recently (in spite of his lackluster feelings about AC Mirage). It got me excited to give the series a try. Never really new how well-researched they were, but it seems like they do a pretty great job recreating the worlds from the different time periods. Renaissance Florence has been fun to jump around in anyway.
Assassin’s Creed are great games, and 2 is the best one. Problem is there was supposed to be something the story was leading to, but then they just ignored all that and started making tons of them with same copy/paste formula. But if you haven’t played any of them, jump in AC2, it’s a good game.
Ι have been playing super Mario wonder and I have to say it’s one of the funest games I’ve ever played. But I am now playing splatoon 3 as a splatfest is coming around.
I was actually expecting a lot more people playing Mario Wonder in this thread than we got.
Who did you support in splatfest?
Same to be honest.
I picked team skeleton. We lost, but it was fun.
Ah well, better luck next time!
Definitely Splatoon. Supporting Big Man this Splatfest!
Ideally, I need to play some F-ZERO 99 and try to unlock Fire Field and White Land II, but that isn’t going to happen any time soon.
I had a good attempt yesterday at trying to get to Fire Field though, don’t think it helps that the people I’m going against have more experience (I’m an A+ Blue Falcon player at level 31 I believe).
Congratulations on winning the Splatfest!
I have given up on F-ZERO 99, too tough for me. Good luck with your attempt!
I’ve been playing some of the old snes and game boy games that you get with NSO
Any faves so far?
Tetris
Got all the shrines (both surface and sky) in TotK and am finally on the last content. Should finish it within the next few days, hopefully this weekend. Apparently there were some missions in the Depths that should be main story missions because Josha won’t help you advance in the main story until these missions are done, but they’re labeled side missions so I put them off. Annoying. I just want to fight the final boss!
Ah, yes. Well, it seems you are finally at the end though. Good luck!
I finished it this weekend. 🥳 Now I need to find something to play next, lol. I’m waiting on the Mario RPG remake and not really big on getting any new full-price games in the meantime, so Mario Wonder will have to wait, if I do pick it up. I think I’ve got some stuff on Steam to hold me over until then.
I finished TOTK yesterday! What a great game. How do you think it compares to BOTW? At some points while playing it I felt like it didn’t have the same magic as BOTW (but that’s nothing wrong with the game itself, it’s just that BOTW was such a unique experience the first time I played it). But having finished TOTK, I can really appreciate how much they changed. The sky islands, depths and all the new ultrahand mechanics are perfect additions to the formula.
There aren’t many games that can release such a stunning trailer, and then live up to that hype.
I felt like a couple of the dungeons were a bit average - the Gerudo one in particular. The Divine Beasts were a lot more memorable in my opinion. Then again, each of TOTKs dungeons felt very distinct which was nice.
Overall though, easily one of the best games on Switch and I’d probably rank it on par with BOTW.
Congratulations! Thanks to you, Hyrule is safe once again!
Oh yeah, Super Mario RPG is one of the reason I haven’t picked up Wonder yet, and also the fact that I still have finished New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe 😀
So, what are you playing on Steam?
…I already 100%ed Mario Wonder. It only took a little over 2 days. So I guess I’ll have to find something else to play…
Wow, that’s some speed!
How many hours did it take?
I haven’t checked in-game hours. I’m currently working, so I’ll have to get back to you later on that.
But yeah… I definitely neglected some other personal responsibilities for a couple of days and just powered through.
Really wanna buy Dave the Diver, but still need to get myself together and finish Tears of the Kingdom
Just play a little bit of Tears of the Kingdom every now and then. Explore one cave or do one quest and just keep going, and it will eventually finish one day. No need to rush through.
I finally finished Pikmin 4 with 99% completion. I know exactly the 1% I’m missing, but I’m not sure when/if I’ll ever go back and finish that. The ending felt quite like a chore, which was a shame.
I am definitely playing more Mario Wonder this weekend and maybe try out Sonic Superstars 1 player mode since I’ve only played co-op so far.
It was a chore to try to go for 100% or just the simple game itself too?
How are you liking Sonic Superstars?
The ending was a chore for me. I don’t want to spoil it, but the last stretch is a bit repetitive. And it’ll be quite some work to finish the missing 1%, so I don’t know if I’ll do it 😬 (I’ll probably want to play Pikmin 4 again in a few months).
Sonic Superstars hasn’t had too much love from with Mario Wonder in the Switch most of the time 😅
Ah. okay. I still have to play Pikmin 1 - 3 before I reach 4, so it’s going to be quite a while before I reach that.
Yeah, Sega chose a very bad time to release Sonic Superstars.
Alan Wake 2.
Just started, can’t really judge, but so far so good.
I have been hearing great things about it. May give it a try,
I was going to save Mario Wonder for in between Baten Kaitos 1 and 2 but I’m weak. It’s now my B-game in place of Katamari, I’m sorry King of all Cosmos.
I’m in the endgame of Baten Kaitos now. Which means the big grind is cpming up to finish the collection and do all the SP Combos, which I always neglect because, like many things in the game, they are just so weirdly useless. Especially for how hard they can be to pull off naturally.
I’m through a big chunk of Beyond Good and Evil now, too. I’m not in as much love anymore and that’s thanks to all the stealth sections. Though the fact that the camera controls on the Steam version just don’t like controllers is the biggest contributor to that.
Edit: BG&E is beaten. The end really brought everything back to what I liked in the beginning! Now I’ll join the others in waiting for the sequel. It’ll be out soon, right? …right?Did you get that 2 week of gameplay card?
lol, the sequel (which is actually a prequel, with different characters) is probably never going to release. Better to think of it as a series that has finished, and if we ever get another game (which is worth playing) in a decade or so, it would be a pleasant surprise.
I still need a good 100 hours or so. It’s hard to say exactly, because menu times stop the timer, so the in-game time isn’t anything to go by.
Wow, that’s a lot, probably going to take you a week or two more to get that. I guess you would’ve completed everything else by the time you get it done, right?
Not everything, since I’ll also have to beat New Game Minus for an achievement. I was told a card’s age doesn’t reset upon the transfer, but I don’t really feel like chancing it, even when I’m 99% sure it’s true. But if I have extra time, I wouldn’t mind grinding out some endgame drops for that.
But for what it’s worth, I found the upside of not having much time time to play because of work. The less time I have to play, the more idle time I can get in.
Baten Kaitos, the most non-idle idle game. 😀
not on my switch but almost definitely celeste, i want to unlock the c sides as fast as possible and on the switch maybe some persona 5 or totk i dunno
I never even completed A side. Good luck!
Big post this time, since I’m combining updates from the last two weeks and I’ve been getting good progress - had to take two 16h trips last week which gave me a lot of use of my Switch.
Finished Anonymous;Code!
A sci-fi visual novel with great presentation and interesting themes. It’s fairly short, fast-paced and action-packed, making this a good starting point for players players new to this genre.
However, it lacks some of the emotional depth that makes the games in this series shine. There’s very little slice-of-life content which helps the pacing, but at the same time it makes the characters feel underdeveloped - even the protagonists suffer from that, in particular when compared to protagonists from older games in this series like Takumi from Chaos;Head or Okabe from Steins;Game.
But despite these flaws it’s still an excellent VN that I can easily recommend to others.
Finished Master Detective Archives: Rain Code!
It’s very clear from the start that this a game from the same people who did the Danganronpa series. The designs use a similar style, the cast is very colorful and unique, and it’s a dark mystery story revolving around murder investigations. But it does change things enough to stand on its own and not be just “Danganronpa 4”.
In this game you play an amnesiac member of the World Detective Agency (WDO) - an organization of super-powered detectives - which after a bumpy train ride arrives at Kanai Ward - an isolated region under control of a corporation where there’s been constant rain for many years, and is tasked to work with other detectives in finding out the secrets of this region.
My favorite thing about this this game is the overall “mood” of Kanai Ward. The constant darkness and rain, tall buildings with neon lights, all this combined with the excellent OST does a really great job in creating the oppressive feeling of a dystopian city under corporate rule.
The first half of each case is an investigative segment where you talk to people and collect clues, followed by something called “Mystery Labyrinth” - a surreal dungeon created from the mystery itself that the MC is able to access thanks to a supernatural entity called Shinigami that aids him. There’s several minigames involved in exploring this labyrinth, the main one being the “Reasoning Death Match”, a RPG battle-like segment where you have do dodge the enemies attacks until you can find the right statement to “counter”. I found it a lot more fun than the class trials from Danganronpa, and while the first dungeon is kinda bland, with you spending a lot of time running through a corridor, they keep changing and improving the formula for the subsequent dungeons making them way more interesting to explore.
Overall I had a ton of fun with this game and I’m hoping to see we’ll see more of this series in the future.
Started Witch on the Holy Night!
AKA “Mahoutsukai no Yoru” or “Mahoyo”. I believe this is the first VN from Nasu Kinoko (Tsukihime, Fate Series) to get an official english release.
So far I’m impressed. This is another VN with exceptional presentation, but while A;C shined on the technical aspects, with animated characters and cool interface details, this one just keeps throwing you a non-stop stream of beautiful artwork.
I’ve only started it so I can’t comment much on the story, but I’m already hooked thanks the protagonist - Aoko is the type of strong, confident and sarcastic female lead that I always enjoy reading. I’ll try to comment more about the plot of this game next week, assuming I don’t get stuck playing Mario Wonder - I got home yesterday from my trip to find my physical copy waiting for me.
Two 16hours trips in a week sound exhausting. Good thing you had Switch to entertain you.
I am going to add Anonymous;Code to my list of VNs to play / try.
Master Detectives Archives: Rain Code has been on my wish list since they announced it, though maybe I’ll play the Danganronpa series first. Wanted to play them on Vita but never got around to it, so now that they are on Switch, have been meaning to get them for a while.
Will look forward to your Witch on the Holy Night review!
