The difference in style is that the left ones are mostly made out of believable materials and design choices for an engineering project that needs to “just work”. Grey, simple, matte building blocks, and the only things that are glowing are things you might reasonable expect to be “active components”. Nothing catches your eye directly, it is like any kind of industrial area. It still subtly directs your eye with shapes that look distinctly science-fiction, but it is not overdesigned or looks like something crazy out of a Marvel movie. It’s down-to-earth, union shop, believable, you know?

The right one is full of glossy surfaces, fancy animations and neon lights where there do not need be any. It looks like a car advertisement and not like a lived-in, believable industrial section. I think that’s the biggest issue people have. Nutrek often feels like it is written, directed or designed like an advertisement, more than something meant to be a genuine piece of art and entertainment. Even the jokes are “we have heard you people!! yass” style writing and not the simple slice-of-life dry humor of something like DS9.
