Recruiters say that ghost jobs — listings companies aren’t actually recruiting for — have become more common as the economy and labor market shifts.

    They’ve been doing it way longer than that. Other common reasons for this nonsense are gaming the H1-B system and maliciously complying with corporate policy that requires them to advertise externally for positions even when they want to promote an internal candidate.
