Yep my uncle’s work van in the UK was as small as my Honda Fit. Just two barebones front seats and an empty cargo space.
Long before that though, back when SUVs became popular because they were trucks and didn’t have to obey sedan fuel economy. This was back in the late 90s
Google search has become so shit that chatgpt sometimes actually has better info…except when it doesn’t. Stract.com is the goto for old school searching
Good thing chatgpt burned through a logs worth of CO2 for nonsense
I don’t fully trust chatgpt, but here are steps it suggested.
Set Community to Restricted or Private During or after creation:
Go to your community page.
Click “Community Settings” (gear icon if you’re a mod).
Under “Community Type”, choose:
Restricted – Only mods can post; anyone can view.
Private – Only approved users can post/comment; content may be hidden from outsiders depending on server config.
🔒 Private is best for a fully closed community.
- Control Who Joins Still in settings:
Enable “Require mod approval to join”.
You can also toggle:
“Allow users to follow”: turn off if you don’t want lurkers.
“Enable posting for approved users only”.
- Manually Approve Members To approve users:
Users request to join your community.
As a mod, go to the mod queue and approve or reject requests.
You may want to consider closing the group and making it by approval only. I had commented before not realizing women only posts may have also meant no comments also. Hard to prove who is who online though.
Yeah, no point supporting something that has become obsolete. Foss community often puts effort in as passion, but a business will not want technical debt and move on to the next hardware support
BCsven@lemmy.cato No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Spicy food never affects my gut and everyone thinks it's really weird. How unusual is this and what could be happening to explain why spicy food doesn't affect me?1·17 days agoI don’t suffer the trots from spicy food. If I make a Thai Curry I will put 5 Thai chillies in it. Could just be what my body is used to, but could also be people who struggle might be combo of not used to spice in their system and not eating a lot of veg or iber then have an Indian lentil meal or something?
BCsven@lemmy.cato Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Everyone talks about the 4th dimension, BUT why is 3D geometry so hard for the average person compared to 2D ?7·17 days agoI can’t quite tell what the question is by your image. I have done a lot of descriptive geometry prior to CAD tools coming on the scene, and now work a lot with 3D geometry/topology problems, but what you describe is not going to be taught in schools because 95% of people will never need to know it. Honestly half, to three-quarters, of the people that run 3D CAD don’t really understand the geometry; its just a result they get
Windows11 is trying to do just that; having a minimum spec chip, so they could eventually drop support for a lot of older hardware. But PCs are so modular that you can pretty much add any hardware together and the OS (such as Linux) can figure out the packages you need to make it all run…but even Linux has dropped a lot of 32bit support in the last few years. So it happens, just at a much longer time frame
Do you run docker containers? If so this might be helpful https://github.com/sredna43/cellarman
BCsven@lemmy.cato Technology@beehaw.org•Is Google about to destroy the web? Google says a new AI tool on its search engine will rejuvenate the internet. Others predict an apocalypse for websites.3·20 days agoAdd Stract.com it is a little behind in web crawling of current info, but the results are like how google used to be around 2010. Just relevant content info, no ads (yet) and occasional randomness
Let’s do oranges next
I’m with @anguo, while if I have to express something I will have inner monolog, but day to day it is thought in concepts. I find it especially concept spacey when doing engineering work, it will be 3D virtual world of structures and forces (for lack of a better term) along with thought process of the problems, but there is no language to it
Please explain in case I’m stupid
Hey, why are you hating on us old guys, I enjoyed Pokemon…and its precursor Ingress.
Its more about each human is unique.
Our neighbour sometimes hangs out with us, we are mid 50, they are 30. We are younger minded and they are older than their age, like they go home and knit etc.
Viagra at 51? No.
Music from Microsoft when they had the store and original DRM. They later shut it down and on newer Windows had no way to restore your DRM keys, so the music was useless/locked. Their support basically said “oh well”. Eventually I got around the DRM by an ancient version of Roxio CD burner, somehow because it came out before MS DRM it just read the track and burned it to CD, there was no DRM checking I guess
