  • Had some friends try to get me to play. Gave it a good 20 hours or so, spent most of it just trying to get anywhere. About a quarter of the time some random guy would zoom along and blow me up before he even showed up on radar, and now I was on a timer waiting for my ship to come back. Another 10% of the time I’d get sucked through my ship when I tried to use FTL, there goes another ship recovery timer.

The time consumption even when things go right is absolutely ridiculous, and they often go wrong. The random PK shit feels so fucking awful that I’d really rather just play something else.

I have played and enjoyed games that require patience, like Wurm Online and EVE Online. Star Citizen is on a level above even those and I’m not sure I would have liked it even before I had kids, but now? Forget it.

  • It’s more better lol

Seriously though it’s really well thought out actually. Each planet has unique challenges you will have to deal with and it’s clear they put a lot of effort into designing these challenges and their solutions. Each planet grants new features that give you options you wouldn’t otherwise have to help solve other problems. Lots of quality of life changes and an ever-improving user experience.

It won’t win over people who didn’t like Factorio but fans of the game will get more of what they love.

  • Quick Celsius breakdown from a Canadian:

    • 40+ - most Canadians stop eating food and hope for a quick death
    • 35 - you might just be able to live with this if you do nothing at all
    • 28 - right about the place where comfort gives way to a general sense of warmth, something that makes any Canadian uncomfortable
    • 23 - room temperature, and why “room temperature IQ” is an insult only Americans could have come up with because their scale was made by a madman
    • 15 - If it’s Autumn you are wearing a light jacket, if it’s Spring you are sweating
    • 5 - sweater time
    • 0 to -10 - that stereotypical TV winter experience, where everyone is skating and sipping hot chocolate? Yeah that’s like half the year here. You better like hot chocolate.
    • -15 - We enjoy the fresh air, others will probably find it painful to breathe directly; put on a scarf! Do not brush your teeth immediately before going outside unless you want to experience mint-flavoured pain.
    • -20 - Canadians put their boots on by now. Exposed skin on a windy day can get frostbite in as little as 10 minutes.
    • -30 - We will debate putting a coat on to put the garbage out at this temperature, usually erring on the side of caution in case your kids lock you outside again. Seriously invest in good winter gear for this, this temperature can kill surprisingly fast and it only gets increasingly unpleasant from here.
    • -40 - turns out you can’t form snowballs in hell because the snow is too crispy

  • Connect the internet connection directly to the router, then connect the router to the wall ports. If it doesn’t have enough ports, connect the router to a TP-Link switch, and then the switch to the wall ports.

Wall port 3 only connects to one device (PC) so no further action needed.

Wall port 1 connects to 2 or more devices, so connect the wall port to a TP-Link switch and then from there to your Nintendo Switch docks and the Pi

After that unless you’ve done some weird configuration your gear will all be on the same subnet. You may want to manually assign the PC’s IP address to make it easier to use streaming, but that’s not mandatory.
