Hey hey hey, SPOILERS! I’m only ~8,000 hours into the game and haven’t gotten there yet!

I would say no, because I’m of the opinion that the practice needs to be done away with altogether. There’s no reason why somebody’s vote should count any more or less than their neighbor’s. If they both live in an area that will be affected by their vote, their votes should have equal weight, period. I’ve yet to hear a single compelling argument for why we still do this today.
They tried too hard to be a CoD/Siege clone without offering anything new. I’m surprised it ever launched in the first place.
It really feels like somebody at Ubisoft is intentionally trying to tank the whole company or something lately. They used to be such a competent studio, so much so that it’s hard to believe that these major failures as of late are an accident.

It was justice because he can no longer harm others.
Sure but he, alone, was not the one who harmed his patients. Realistically, he’s probably never even seen a patient’s file and likely couldn’t identify one if you asked him to. While he was the CEO and officially signs off on what the company does, the company is much more than just him. He will be replaced, and easily; likely before next week is even over. And everybody who enabled him and followed him and carried out his orders will continue to conduct the company as they have before.
IMO, justice for victims involves a positive effect; either through policy reform, repayments, etc. The victims aren’t suddenly going to get their claims approved now; they’re in the same situation today as they were yesterday. This is a wholly lateral move for them.
This is justice.
How? His victims get nothing; his money goes to his family now. The chances of Thompson actually paying for the damages he caused went from nearly zero to literally zero.
While I feel no sympathy for his death, I don’t think that there’s any justice in this. His rich family just got a little bit richer (or will, once his estate is processed). And now United gets to negotiate a new, lower pay plan for a replacement CEO, so they get to pocket even more money going forward. The people who came out ahead in this are not those victimized by Thompson’s company, but those directly in his circle.
It’s an injustice, if anything. Thompson should have had his assets seized and returned to his victims, but now that opportunity is gone forever.
but my pessimistic side thinks this might have set a great example for CEOs to always maintain a level of humanity or face unforseen consequences.
I feel like that’s your optimistic side speaking. My pessimistic side thinks this just encourages CEOs to hire more stringent security details, making themselves even more untouchable. I very much doubt that the intended lesson will be learned here.
I imagine it depends on the type of food, as there’s probably some proteins you can freeze-dry that don’t have to be rehydrated to eat.
I have to imagine that the person or people behind Real Debrid are quite likely slightly delusional. You kinda have to be if you want to start up a piracy business. People who set up these sorts of operations generally go through life under the impression that they’re invincible, that they’ll never get caught, that whatever legal loophole they’ve devised using SovCit logic is going to save them, etc. I very much doubt he cares about stacking up charges, because in his mind he’ll never face them.
It astounds me that people are expecting professionalism from somebody whose entire business is built around facilitating a crime. What are their other reviews like? “The staff at the underground dogfighting arena were so rude and have no customer service skills. 2/5, would not visit again.”
Because they’ve been so keen on being law-abiding do-gooders this whole time, right.
Alright. It just feels like every day there’s a new post from a brand new account that’s always either super emotional or borderline incestuous.
Can we ban brand new accounts from posting here? This isn’t real.
Thanks! I think mbin formats community links oddly for some reason.
Seems like I can’t find the community?
I think Fedia might be having some sync issues right at the same time I posted this. Boy, do I have awful timing, lmao
Other question: Does ot work on Linux now? We tried months ago on Garuda (Arch) and it doesn’t boot iirc.
I’m not sure, I play on PS5 so I’m not up to speed with the PC side of the game. I think it uses Easy AntiCheat on PC, so that’ll be whatever can of worms Linux users already have to deal with. I know some people have gotten it to run on Linux seemingly without issue, though. But since it’s unsupported, I imagine it probably breaks quite often, since the game is updated weekly.
You assumed the kid’s parents are pushing their beliefs on him. You assumed he was struggling to form his own identity. You assumed he is rebelling. You assumed OP equates conservatism to fascism.
Every part of what you wrote was an assumption, chief.
You came up with an awful lot of assumptions based on absolutely zero evidence. Sounds exactly like the type of critical thinking one should expect from somebody who seems to tolerate children being indoctrinated into fascism.
Just out of curiosity, do you know what drew him to this line of thinking in the first place? Any particular media he’s consumed? Knowing how one first enters into fascism can help in undoing that damage.
It definitely sounds like depression. But depending on what your addiction is to, there could be some overlap in symptoms which could make it hard to isolate.
For what it’s worth, it also sounds similar to what some people experience with long covid/brain fog. If these feelings are relatively new, and you’ve tested positive for covid in the past, that could also be worth giving consideration to, as I’m pretty sure this is affecting a lot of people who may not even realize how severe their conditions are yet.
Bayonetta invents an entirely new god in the last 10 minutes of the game that was never explained or alluded to before, and then has you piledrive it into the sun.
