Saturday night special is my favorite one to bring up to the “fans”. Like I can see how you don’t necessarily get the others, but how anybody can hear “a handgun is made for killing, ain’t no good for nothing else, so why don’t we take our handguns and throw them to the bottom of the sea” and think that this guy is just another good ol boy is beyond me.

  • It would benefit from a period, and I can’t tell if they’re trying to be sarcastic, but the use of y’all is fine. Y’all is an American-English word most similar to the Spanish vosotros. Y’all’s-selves is a more specific dialect mostly found in the US south east, but it is a word too. Y’all fills a hole in the language and I don’t get why people hate it so much. Y’all’s-selves really only serves the purpose of adding an emphasis on the collective nature of yourselves.

  • Okay, my initial reading of these numbers were that the Americas must be shit at accepting people, then I did a short wiki dive and it has this:

Jus soli in many cases helps prevent statelessness.[11] Countries that have acceded to the 1961 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness are obligated to grant nationality to people born in their territory who would otherwise become stateless persons.[12][a] The American Convention on Human Rights similarly provides that “Every person has the right to the nationality of the state in whose territory he was born if he does not have the right to any other nationality.”[11]

And now I’m thinking maybe the numbers are so low in a good way?
