Sometimes it might be sold off. I know LTT sold their Steam Deck to DankPods because Valve still haven’t brought it into Australia.

I use an iPad, am subscribed to Apple Music and also use a Hackintosh setup (aiming to replace it with a MacBook of some kind in the future).
As for your point on bloatware, this happens on Android too. I can’t remove Facebook, OneDrive or YouTube from my phone, only “hide” it. (Samsung btw)
EmuDeck is already implementing replacements on Switch and is looking at other 3DS emulators. They won’t uninstall Yuzu from your Deck, but likely won’t default to using them if they’re installed. You might have to take a few extra steps with ES-DE or SRM.
The Lemmy instances that are popular right now likely won’t sell it like Reddit would. However, you don’t really need to, to grab publicly available data from Lemmy instances. The data is publicly available to view and for scrapers like Common Crawl (one of the datasets used for machine learning, used as one of the training datasets for GPT-3) to scrape. I don’t know if Lemmy allows admins to hide comments without an account or not.
Levelhead if you’re a fan of precision platformers. It’s very much a cuter Mario Maker but it does have its own “story mode” of sorts as well.
Yup! The fishy glue smell is real, but there’s no legitimate reports of the Cybertruck emitting those, as much as people would believe that.
Someone on Bluesky claimed that the Tesla Cybertruck was emitting “human sewage” or “fishy glue” smells with a convincing edit of a Insider News article. Then they convinced me more by editing/making from fiction a Cybertruck owners discussion board to say someone was posting about their Cybertruck smelling like dog pussy. To be honest, when I saw that I should have known it was fake, but I can absolutely believe the Cybertruck smelling rancid from failing electronics.
I believed the fake article since I had a similar situation with a failing minifridge. There was a strong electronic smell coming from it and while it wasn’t really “fishy glue” I knew something was failing and disposed of it immediately. I also remembered a YouTuber having issues with her home wiring emitting a fishy glue smell.
Rate Your Music and MusicBrainz both use traditional forums, though I haven’t really posted in them lately. I also joined EndeavourOS’ forums at the time I joined Lemmy.
I’m on 6.6.10 😩 but I do need to update anyway haha, thanks for the reminder
I’ve been having this weird issue with wifi where it will just switch itself off (shown in NetworkManager as “no available connections”) and not allow me to restart the OS normally. It’s like the driver is crashing or something. Hardware isn’t the issue, otherwise it would have happened on Windows. Drivers can be an issue, as NVIDIA users know too well. Games can be a bit choppy on Linux if you use ray-tracing, probably due to drivers as well as the intermediary processes for getting games to work like DXVK. This was my experience with Cyberpunk 2077. Game modding can be an issue due to .NET not being fully there yet, especially if you have games that are glitchy and require stability mods for a good experience. (e.g. any Bethesda game that exists.)
The only thing keeping me from full-timing Windows is the fact that Windows 11 just plain sucks. I feel like I have to use it, rather than want to use it. Compared to even a bog-standard KDE setup, the Windows experience is miserable. As for Mac, I have a Hackintosh but Apple really loves to render everything on the GPU side and it’s chugging my ol’ GPU. Maybe I need to go get an M-series MacBook this year.
Regarding point 2, this was why deadmau5 used Mac for a long time during his live gigs. He likes the predictability of a Mac, it makes it easy for him to get back going if something goes wrong.
He’s had to stop using it for the Cube stuff though, since it requires a lot of Windows software.
RGD is a pretty neat channel that goes through Nintendo’s history through the gigaleaks. Their wiki is inactive but still pretty extensive, too.
George Takei is on Universeodon (on AP fedi) and Bluesky, as well. He or his management seems to be the type to try out new platforms.
As long as they don’t interfere with, say, Bazzite, all’s good.
I heard somewhere Microsoft is making a gaming UI for Windows 11 for devices like the Steam Deck, but dunno if there’s any progress there.
Limited essentially means the instance is put in quarantine. AFAIK it won’t appear on the federated timelines but users can still follow and communicate to them if they desire.
Yeah the detailed explanation would be very helpful. It’s nice that Lemmy has the page at least (and I learned something new today), though that is just Lemmy and the fediverse is much bigger than that. I believe Misskey and Pleroma share it similarly to Lemmy, while Mastodon allows admins to hide it from the public (which, as I said, will act as a barrier to those wanting to sign up)
Yeah there’s a similar tool for the wider microblogging part of fediverse (Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey, etc.) but because it was made by an edgelord it gets dismissed. I get the vibe some instances just don’t want to share that information, which is important when you’re basically dealing with web infrastructure, and get mad when you seek that information out.
I use a redirector extension for YouTube so PipedBot is useless and annoying for me. I’d rather someone just give me a YouTube URL and let the redirector extension do its work.
TL;DRbot is okay, I guess.
