I realize what this post is saying, but it reminded me of a somewhat similar situation.
In my high school we had to learn the stems of words and their meanings (I.E. Acro = high; acr = sharp, etc). Our English teachers would give us a list of 15 stems (25 if you took accelerated/advanced English) at the start of the week and then on Friday they would hand out a quick test for us to conplete.
The idea was you’d look over the list throughout the week and memorize them that way. But instead I would look at the list 5 minutes before the exam, memorize them, take the test, ace it, then forget about them before the class even ended. Worked every time.

But since they’re the ones hosting it on their servers, they may have the most legitimate claim to the ad revenue since it does cost money to keep the trailers on their servers and to stream it to viewers.
I am not a lawyer, though. This is just pure speculation on my part.

Thus no one should be getting any ad revenue from these videos since no one actually owns it.
DougDoug did a video on AI copyright a few months ago and is rather informative. Would recommend.

My friend group is discussing these events daily. And a few of them are actually going out and protesting. I’m likely to join in this summer.

Might be easiest to make it a pulse based rocket so you can use a bunch of tiny nuclear explosions to propel yourself into space. I’m sure that won’t have any environmental ramifications.
Reminds me of the time I put a partially filled Gatorade bottle under my parents’ Jeep as a kid. I remember trying to run it over with my bike, but would just go right over it. Then I got curious what the Jeep would do and wedged it under the back tire. But we didn’t go anywhere till the next day, so I forgot I put it there.
The following day, we’re backing out of the garage when there’s a sudden loud POP. I quickly turn to look and see Gatorade covering that area of the garage. Scared the hell out of my mom.
Was an informative time for everyone involved.

Pirky@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that the recommended daily fiber intake is 25g for women and 38g for men in the USA. 95% of the country does not meet this amount.7·1 year agoIf you suddenly add the recommended dosage to your diet, you will absolutely have problems like that at first.
It’s ideal to slowly increase your fiber intake so your body has time to adjust to it. That way those problems are minimized until it’s a regular part of your diet.

Looks like I’ll just play the PS3 remake on RPCS3. That might be the definitive way to play it at the moment.

Should we hold content creators to account?52·1 year agoThere was a video he did on a startup taxi service using self driving cars. Basically the entire thing was an advertisement for that company.
Then another Youtuber, Tom Nicholas, released a video about that a few months later and how it’s an issue. I’ll have to watch it again as I don’t remember what he specifically talks about.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What do companies get out of rewards programs4·1 year agoI can kind of answer this question. For a year, I worked at a big box store where you can “save big money”. They had periodic training and one of the modules was on their store card.
The question was, “Why do we want people to have our card?”
I replied, “Because we don’t have to pay the standard processing fees.”
“No, it’s because of loyalty. If they have a [big box store] card, then they’re much more likely to spend their money here instead of [competitor].”

I use it for work and personal use.
Ultrawide has my main programs for work: internet browsers and job specific programs get about 60% of the real estate on the left, while pdf’s, and other less essential programs go to the right 40% of the screen.
The top left monitor gets Teams, Excel docs, or auxiliary browsers.
Top right gets email and media (YouTube, Spotify, etc) or any overfill if I’m dealing with a particularly cluttered job.For personal, ultrawide is obviously used for games, movies, etc, while top left has task manager, MSI Afterburner, and Throttlestop (I run a laptop). And the top right has Discord.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•If hemroids are common and can openly bleed, and people poop with hemroids, how do people not get infected buttholes all the time?371·1 year agoThat’s what I remember reading, too. I think that particular area gets its own lymph node system or something like that. Similar to how our head and neck have their own dedicated system.
Those areas are prone to bacteria, so they get beefed up protections.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why don't we have one timezone covering the whole earth?24·1 year agoI think it would be better to think of it as, “Do we want everyone to have the same general idea of what 5pm means? Or to have everyone be on one time?”
Edit: I know it’s an imperfect question as northern/southern latitudes can get dark sooner/later than the other pending the season. But 5pm to a Californian is going to feel very different than to a German if we’re all on one time.
Those are just my thoughts, though.
I carry a pair on me at all times, too. And it’s a bigger help than one might realize.
If someone is sensitive to loud noises or particular sounds, earplugs can help prevent them from being overstimulated by those sounds. If I enter a loud bar, I put them in. If I have to be around loud or crying kids, I put them in. Loud college party or hockey game? Ear plugs. Crowded fair? Ear plugs.
They allow me to stay in social situations that I would otherwise have to leave. It makes much more sense for me to put my plugs in than to expect kids to be quiet all the time. Or for everyone at a party to be respectful just for me.
One thing you could do to at least mitigate the issue is carry a set of ear plugs on you at all times. That’s what I do and it’s really helped me out in certain situations. It obviously won’t solve the problem, but if it reduces the noise level, it should make it less irritating.
Pirky@lemmy.worldto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How do you entertain yourself after the death of good(ish) algortihms in favour of ad algorithms?25·2 years agoDo The Hobbit first. Those LotR chapters get long.
Him being 33 years old hits me kind of hard (in a good way) because I’m just a year younger than him.
When I see his age, one of my first thoughts is, “That could be me.” Seeing candidates my age actually succeeding instead of geriatric ones actually makes me feel represented and that I could do something similar, too. Obviously not Mayor of the largest city in the US, but I could run for a city council position in the town I live in. And this makes it feel like I could actually succeed.
That’s huge to feel in this day.
