computer keyboards i will never understand paying more than 20 bucks for one
I left a long time ago already, nothing of value to be found there anymore.
For me it will always be synonymous to extreme sports, i’m always picturing Jesus and Santa Claus doing sick snowboard tricks
My guess would be it’s a side-effect, kind of like pareidolia. Us being extremely social animals, so much that being cast away from the tribe in our hunter-gatherer days would spell certain death, our brains have become extremely attuned to face/emotion recognition and language. So we have a tendency of using words to express ideas, even to ourselves.
Impressive, I’ve only managed to read like 10 books so far this year, I bought an e-reader back in March and I have been steadily developing a reading habit (I’m averaging 50 pages a day this month). Honestly one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
I got accepted for my master’s degree abroad, it’s been a blast so far
I’m doing good. I’m doing things that I enjoy, and I strive to improve. I believe we’ll sort most of our shit out, it will never be even close to perfect, because we’re dumb, materialistic, belligerent apes by nature, but it will be enough.
Handshake for men, kiss on cheek and/or hug for women/family/close friends
I’ve seen some cafés where you can give extra money for a coffee or a snack to be given to a homeless person when they ask for it. It’s pretty nice and it rounds up the bill!
Savory oats. Put oats, milk, butter and whatever you fancy in a pan. Done.
I worked as a software dev, I had an intern to supervise. Everything was going well until he somehow got behind my back, tried some stuff on his own, and wiped out the whole database. Luckily we had backups, but I had to scramble to get it back and running as fast and possible, as I received dozens of calls or complaints almost instantly. For some reason, I was not allowed to modify permissions and accounts, and both me and the intern had superadmin privileges.
I left to pursue my studies, the intern took my place and was put in charge of everything, I don’t know how he’s doing now and I don’t really care.
Company was a shitshow, new features or changes were expected immediately, so we got used to work directly on prod. I told him to test anything on a dummy DB and show me before we submit it, but he got around it when I wasn’t looking. The security tools were garbage, I wasn’t allowed to change permissions.
You should take it upon yourself to make regular backups in case you fuck up really bad. I had an intern that deleted everything on its fifth day, luckily l was automatically making backups two times a day, so it was fine.
Most of my friends are on Signal, fortunately. However it can be tricky to ask someone you just met to install a new app in order to stay in touch. Signal is still quite niche, WhatsApp is just something that the overwhelming majority of people have an account on, so it’s convenient. I wish it wasn’t the case, but that’s just how it is. Also I don’t feel that you should block, or avoid people based on their social media choice, it’s as dumb and pathetic as the blue/green bubble craze.
I’m seeing more and more people using Signal, so that’s pretty neat. I encouraged all of my close friends to make the switch 2 years ago, but I’m constantly meeting new people (usually tech-savvy folks) using it too.
