I remember a story back at the beginning of the war of a Russian helicopter pilot defecting. He had other Russian soldiers in the helicopter with him, but they couldn’t do anything because he was the only one there who knew how to fly it.
Well if the current front lines are pretty entrenched, and it’s hard to take back occupied Ukrainian land, then just go take unprotected Russian land to make it even. Didn’t Putin say he was up for a truce if the current lines were kept? Let’s see how he feels about that when he has to give up Russian land. At the very least it will force Russia to relocate troops and resources.
While you might be right, it is a civic duty to vote. Your mindset is too dangerous, which is why the right-wing trolls try pushing it. Voting even why you know it won’t make a difference is the most basic thing you can do to push back. Who knows what could happen if we get enough people out of that mindset. Simply voting, regardless of who for, is an event that every American should take pride in.

Yes and we shouldn’t let them bring us down to their level. First strike is never justified, but second strike in response could be. They don’t care about their people, so they probably want to goad others into nuking them. It would free them up to use theirs and claim it’s justified. Let’s not play into their hands.
I understand the posturing. Attacking the EU needs to be presented as a terrible idea, but when people start talking about using nukes loosely, then the other side might also consider them fair game. I guess, in my opinion, using first strike nukes is never justified, and if the EU or anyone does it then they’re no better than the aggressors. I would prefer we hold ourselves to higher standards instead of letting the bad actors bring us down to their level.
Maybe reasonable would be a better word.
Once someone uses a nuke, everyone will, and then everyone’s dead anyway.
Can we stop talking like using nukes could somehow be reasonable. The thought of using a first strike nuke should be considered beyond outrageous and any leader that even remotely considers it should be ran far away from any position of authority.

I can’t remember a specific example, but that does sound familiar. I remember someone claiming a possible reason for their strength was that slavers would breed slaves like animals for certain traits.
Occam’s razor is choosing the simplest answer. There is no simple answer when it comes to teleportation. I’m not sure there is a full break in consciousness when we sleep. Consciousness may not even be the right word…
In this case I’m not defining consciousness as simply being awake, but instead defining it as the perspective from which each individual perceives the universe.
That sounds like a form of last Thursdayism. The entire universe could’ve been created last Thursday with everything made to seem older, including everyone’s memories. These philosophies are usually shot down by occam’s razor.
If you make a perfectly exact replica of yourself do you suddenly perceive the universe from two perspectives?
I’m far from knowledgeable about this, but the only thing I’m aware of that might disrupt determinism is quantum mechanics. Something about particles at that level not having set values until they are observed, making them truly random. I have no clue how that could lead to free will. We still have no control over it. It’s more like they are the base that everything else is determined off of.
When I first moved in to my apartment, I became friends with one neighbor because I could hear him coughing through the wall and asked to buy some weed off him one day. He would occasionally ask me to take care of his dog when he was out of town. He has since moved and a nice old lady moved in. On the other side of my apartment is a special needs adult with care workers constantly coming and going, so not so much making friends anymore.
