New Mexico has two very big national labs. Los Alamos National Labs, and Sandia National Labs.

LANL was founded by Oppenheimer. They still do mostly “energy” work, but a ton of materials, chemistry, and weapons research.

SNL does mostly weapons, satellites, and uh… alien tech, we’ll say.

Both labs employ a lot of Germans. They’re efficient and good at science.

There are also a lot of companies that work with the laboratories, not to mention Intel and others involved in computational component manufacturing and design. The state got a lot of CHIPs act finding. So, yeah, New Mexico has a lot of hard science opportunities, and Germans tend to like hard sciences.

Met my current partner at work. The funny part is I had given up completely, after going on dates with enough people, but just not really connecting with any. My previous relationship was haunting me, and I carried a lot of damage from it. I just couldn’t overcome it, so, I gave up. We started talking eventually, and we’ve been together for 2 amazing years. I know it’s cliché, but sometimes you find what you’re looking for precisely when you’re not looking.

Before that I dated on apps, and I can confirm it was hell. It’s probably changed in the 3 odd years I was using them, but Bumble was by far the best app, at least in my area. On that app, it felt a lot more meaningful than Tinder or Hinge.

I lost all love for the 4th of July when the sun was going down and I saw a beautiful coyote across my fence like 5 feet from me. He locked eyes with me and looked so terrified, it took a little bit of my soul. He was panting so hard. He was even looking at me like he was pleading me to help him, but I couldn’t because he’s, well, a coyote. He stayed looking at me for almost 2 whole minutes before he went back into the brush.

I still think about that every 4th.
