I’m having a lot of fun playing mount and blade : bannerlord. The combat is satisfying and the game has quite a lot of depth. It can be a bit overwhelming but I think it’s worth the 2h attempt. For the power fantasy part : get good at polearms and riding, get yourself a glaive, optionally download the mod that allows you to hit several enemies with a single swing and mow down lines of infantry with each charge.

Not using one with my fairphone, it’s bulky enough already, the entire back is replaceable for cheap and the frame looks solid. I dropped it quite a lot, including on some hard surfaces, and it’s only made a few superficial marks, like it scraped the frame’s shiny coating in that spot, but that’s about it.

I do use screen protectors though. They’re cheap and are not as intrusive as cases. Just changed it after years of service actually, the thing was all fucked up with scratches and missing glass everywhere, and the actual screen under was absolutely spotless.

What happened to just removing the muffler ? (Nothing. Nothing happened to that practice because I can still hear these mfs revving their shitty unmuffled scooters every day)

First of all you’re in competition with your older games. BDL1 and 2 had soul and were good. BDL 3 is still ok (no idea about the pre-sequel but I heard it was the beginning of the downwards trend). Not to mention the literal hundreds (even thousands for some of us) of other good games sitting in our libraries. And the indie bangers consistently proving that we don’t need to pay 80$ and download a 200 Go day one patch to enjoy the medium in 2025. I hope this bankrupts Gearbox at this point.

I agree about the apps thing but QR code menus are fine imo. Beats having to decipher a sometimes outdated, damaged, dirty physical menu with a terrible print.

Also I literally can’t get it to use a plugged controller when docked. Sure, it will charge it and I can pair it with Bluetooth and it works, but it’s a little silly that I can’t just use it as “pure” USB controller (even though it works flawlessly in that way on multiple PCs, including a Linux desktop, and through weird peripherals like my monitor’s USB hub).

Streaming games on the home wifi is also basically non-functional in the OS, even though it works pretty damn well when I do it through Moonlight. I’m assuming the steam version doesn’t do enough compression (and yes I have tried tweaking the settings)

PC on the floor under the desk, 27" 2k IPS screen (looks great but unfortunately has some tearing issues due to mediocre top-to-bottom refresh speed. Fortunately I’m getting older so I really don’t give a fuck about losing something like .016 seconds of reaction time to vsync), with his 24" ancestor on the side. The even older 24" that used to be my second monitor has been commandeered by my dad for his home office, so no third screen yet. (tbf he did technically buy it back then, since I paid half of it with my allowance and he paid the other half).
