  • You are sharing very deep observations about yourself.

About your mother and her impact on you wanting to start a family, take a look at raisedbynarcicissts communities or speak to a therapist.

For friends connection, try joining a board game club in your area. They really don’t care about autistic traits.

I’d recommend minimising the amount of commercial media you are viewing, and switch to mostly consuming open-licenced media for a while.

Nursing, and care professions like teaching or ambulance drivers, can often be squeezed to rely on the compassion of the individuals in them. Do you have balance within your position. Is it time to retrain for something else at night-school? Or time to go to 3 or 4 days a week.

Take some pride, every single day nurses help people to stay alive.

The Stoic Reading app on FDroid may help you find some philosophy that motivates or solidifies a purpose.

Travel to a different town and meet random people, introduce yourself using your middle name. Invest nothing in making long term friends, just chat.

You actually sound quite aware of many things around you, finding opportunities for hobbies or artistic endeavours, where you do not overthink things, would help.

Remember that everyone is doing their best with what they know, and to let some things go.

All the best for your future.

  • Yes, it is worth getting into video games. Mental quickness, friends, and less Alzheimers are some benefits.

People in this post are making excellent recommendations for quality commercial games.

I can recommend starting out in videogames, by getting into Free Software (Libre) games.

Libre Games cost nothing, have no spyware, and usually have positive, helpful, DIY focused communities.

Here is a post I made that lists a few of my favourite free games on desktop and mobile.

If any on this list are too difficult or hard to set up, just skip.

    Historical note

The Fool’s Errand game, from 1987, sold very well with women gamers. Over 50% IIRC.

It is a tricky puzzle game with Tarot Card theming and an excellent sense of humour.

Fool’s Errand is not Free Software though, and way out of print. It could probably be emulated on a device that you have, PC or phone.

  • We invited another friends’ family over to sit at a table in our driveway. Had dinner, chatted, handed out lollies to about 40 kids, gave them compliments on their costumes. The 10 who were without costume got the same lollies and “Happy Halloween”. I remember what it is to be a kid.

The parents chaperoning kids around are usually not in costume.

As for our decorations and costumes, we had fake spider and snake out, I dressed up family members in a sugar-skull shirt, and I wore a NIN Ghosts shirt.

Before heading out front, my dad-joke got a groan, when I said, “I am dressed as ghosts!”
