The big testing ground for automated warfare. Well, the beginnings thereof.
For all we know, that particular dude might be a paid hitman.
It doesn’t matter what he is, who he is, or what he believes. He could be a nazi from the US taliban who thinks healthcare is the devils work and wants to kill every healthcare CEO for spreading hell on earth, or any other crazy shit. People would shrug and still say he did the right thing. They hate him as a person, but the action of killing a CEO itself could galvanize people to start attacking millionaires, billionaires, wallstreet people, bankers, CEOs, etc.
These all look like different people with photos from different places at different times of the day. Probably their AI matched them and the coppers just had a quick glance, then put them on this panel.
Honestly, I doubt the person who shot him would actually be mad at being caught. He might’ve started a movement.
The best way to get rid of reddit, or other things, is to remove the allure/possibility to use. Blacklist the reddit app, install an addon that blacklists the reddit website, and maybe even get an adblocker to block any mention of reddit. Just make it really difficult to consume anything from reddit or participate on reddit.
It separately announced another policy that will allow parents with children in grades one to three in elementary schools to trade off a bit of their salary for the option to clock out early.
That’s something. Not quite there yet, but something.
USAmericans have a heavy focus on heritage due to their history (wiping out nearly all of the local population). It is thus a great melting pot of people who left their own behind and had to start again from scratch. Going to another country where everybody’s from somewhere else led to them trying to find out how they’re unique and looks and heritage are the easiest to focus on. Combine that with a good chunk of their population being descendants of slaves (African, Asian, and European) and you will have a bunch of people focusing on that. Now factor in that blacks are the third biggest ethnic group.
The same didn’t happen elsewhere to the same degree as in the US because there are millennia of history and culture in other places or the population is more homogeneous. Go to Poland you’re surrounded by Polish people whose forefathers might’ve come from the very same region, spoken the same language, adhered to the same values and customs, suffered very similar fates, and shared the same traditions. They will try and stand out differently e.g through their accent, dialect, money, and so on instead of skin color and heritage.
It is a complex, multi-faceted issue, but those are my impressions of it. I agree that the focus is annoying, especially when copy-pasted abroad as if history doesn’t matter there, but I’m sure the more you read about US history, the more you’ll understand.
Ukraine is losing ground every day, and that worries me a lot. I do not know what they can achieve before Trump reaches office and inevitably pulls all support from Ukraine. I kinda doubt the EU will be ready to step in in equal measure right away (if ever).
My hope is that Ukraine does massive damage to the positions in Russia now that they have been given the go-ahead to strike in Russian territory.
If Apple employees can be monitored, why would you think non-employees cannot?
Duh! Don’t use your work phone for personal affairs. Apple doesn’t give a fuck about its employees well-being or rights. All it cares about it the bottom line and employees are a liability.
You must be a prime, USAmerican specimen to expulse such rambling against public transport.
NATO allies believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin is aiming to recapture territory lost to Ukraine in Kursk Oblast before Donald Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20.
NATO should be stepping up in turn and arming the shit out of Ukrainians.
Edit: wow, I blocked one dude and my feed is clean
.com.tr? Is that a common domain in Turkey?
Soo… what will they do? Let them off with a stern warning? Or will there be real consequences? Sabotage is pretty high on the list of things that should get you locked up, right?
No. Absolute free speech means allowing people say whatever they like and that means anything. You can spam somebody with messages telling them to kill themselves. You can put a loudspeaker in front of somebody’s house and play a message on loop telling them to kill themselves. You can openly call for somebody to kill another person and not get in trouble for enticing a murder. You can shout down anybody you like and tell them to shut up or threaten them, all you have to do is be louder and look like you have the means to kill them in order to intimidate. And that will all be fine because if someone tries to stop you from expressing your opinion, they will be infringing on your right to absolute free speech.
It does however create a paradox: if someone uses their free speech to infringe on somebody else’s free speech, what can be done? You can’t tell the person infringing to stop because that would infringe on their free speech. After all, they have a right to absolute free speech, don’t they? So, if you say “your right to free speech ends where the right of somebody else’s begins” then it’s not absolute anymore.
It also opens a can of worms as to what counts as expressing free speech and what counts as suppressing it. Does blocking somebody on a platform infringe on their right? Does muting? If the rule is “right to speak, but no right to be heard”, what counts as speech? Does typing and hitting send count as free speech? Well, I could give you an app with a textbox and a send button, disconnect you from the internet, and you could write everything you want, hit send and it never leaves your computer but you did express yourself, didn’t you? Or maybe the sounds coming out of your mouth count as speech / expression ? Well, I could gag you, you can make sounds and that’s speech, right?
So no. I don’t believe absolute free speech can exist.
Who cares? They are mostly men… /s
Woops, it was Europol that was involved in that, not Interpol.
