Yeah. I was in Cuba recently. A lot of poverty but very safe (in Havana at least, where I was. Can’t speak to the rest but I’m told it’s similar). Nobody sleeping in the streets. People were fed, though with very limited choices and portion.

Then you look at some cities in the USA, the richest country on earth and there’s people living in the streets, begging for food. You feel unsafe waiting down the street. Tons of desperation and even those with housing feel like they’re walking a tightrope.

Not saying Cuba’s situation is “better”, it’s definitely nuanced though. And we should really see what Cuba could do if the US would stop trying to cripple it as it has for to many decades. It’s unjustifiable and disgusting.

God I wish I had symmetrical upload. Gigabit down and like, 125mbps up.

Not so much for this but I self host stuff like my photos and I notice it’s slower when scrolling my photos outside the house. And using my personal VPN, makes my download limited to my upload speed.

My most uploaded file is a copy of Shrek 2 with Latin American Spanish dub, it took me over a month to download. I swear to God the only one seeding it was someone who would just open their client, download whatever they were looking for, then shut it off. It’s the only copy of that dub I could find in decent quality. Now I’m at ~50 ratio for that file.

If you can only find 0 seed torrents just chuck it in your client anyway, I’ve had several actually complete.

I’m not sure how there’s much of any argument for it. It’s pretty clear that a person only officially becomes vice/president-elect after being voted for in the EC.

Though what happens it the EC elects a dead man? Many states REQUIRE their electors to vote as told. Probably would see more state level law crises at that point. Resolutions to make the electors vote for the VP candidate if the presidential one dies.

“y’all” fills a legitimately useful gap the English language has. Other languages have a word like this.

Edit: also something cool I just found out, some languages have a way to disinguish “we” (you and I), and “we” (me and the rest of us, not you). It’s called clusivity and is missing from European languages. Many indigenous languages of the Americas and Oceania have this, as well as Vietnamese and northern dialects of Mandarin.
