Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•what's a good answer to placate the c-suite if you're accused of lacking motivation and being unfriendly?6·3 days agoNot all positions require outstanding motivation. If you are a project manager, sure a motivated one will probably outperform someone there just for the money that doesn’t give a shit. A technician on an assembly line? It doesn’t matter, you are there to operate a machine and motivation will not make you (sustantially) more productive, incentives on the other hand will (benefits, salary, less stressful working condition…)
Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what's a good answer to placate the c-suite if you're accused of lacking motivation and being unfriendly?29·3 days agoDon’t answer the question, ask them for specific examples on why they think you are being unmotovated or unfriendly, don’t be aggressive, just pretend you simply don’t understand. They’ll tell you some bullshit and you can tell it’s a misunderstanding. Keep a polite and friendly tone.

Why make these changes? Customers don’t want it, the company doesn’t profit and they actually lost money and reputation by doing this and not backtracking. Who is benefiting from this? It looks like a perfect lose-lose situation

in richer countries sanitary conditions of food and water means there’s less risk of parasitic infection
-
if there’s no symptom, you probablu don’t have a parasitic infection. Remember that billions of bacteria and other microorganisms live in your body in a symbiotic relationship, that’s totally normal and without the you would die
-
For the love of God, please don’t take any medicine without your doctor telling you to do so. Esoecially any “purification”, " cleansing" or “detox” substance some randos on the internet tell you it’s good for you. Those are people with no medicanl knowledge at best or scammers at worst

Is there a way you can start experimenting with some monetization without leaving your job? This way you can test how feasible it is, and yoy have more informarion on how it could work for you.
Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How does someone get a splinter on a starship?English1·15 days agoI’m not only talking about electrical power, communication is also a form of power transmission over distance, they established thay for communication they don’t “constrain the signals in the wire, so they can be blocked from outside”, so I’d gueds they transmit everything wirelessly, including inter-person communication, diagnostics and commands to engines, which is crazy
Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto Daystrom Institute@startrek.website•How does someone get a splinter on a starship?English4·18 days agoCable stranding is a common way to get a metal splinter, but they already established that copper cables are not used on a ship (which I find just unrealistic, you can’t just wirelessly power and transmit everysingle thing on a ship).

Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Producers Promise Season 4 Will Be BetterEnglish6·21 days agoYou are right, with 20+ episodes it’s easier to have a common theme while still being episodic enough to have episodes that don’t advance the plot but are either funny or explore some unrelated theme. 10 episodes season work for a serialized series (like discovery), but an episodic 10 episodes series is a hybrid of the two and more difficult to pull throught.
However, I still think they did a good job, the season was fun and enjoyable, and I don’t really care there’s no “big picture plot”. After all, this is not telling the voyage of a ship lost in the galaxy or a multi-year war with a foreign dominion, it’s a character build-up story that will eventually become the original series, it’s a prequel and doesn’t try to be anything else. Surely I enjoyed it more than galaxy-destroying-threat-of-the-year discovery.
Also, even if some more “experimental” episodes may be a little failed, I can surely appreciate the attempt and, even if more boring or over the top, at least they are memorable, si they have value.

Bobo The Great@startrek.websiteto Star Trek Social Club@startrek.website•Episode Discussion | Star Trek: Strange New Worlds | 3x10 "New Life and New Civilizations"English5·22 days agoFrom what I get it, the fantasy/hallucination wss made by Batel for herself and Pike, because she knew they would never see again andshe (somehow, I guess that’s part of the Beholder superpower?) constructed a fake world so they could, in some way, live their life together. That’s why Pike didn’t suffer the accident, and that’s why Bayel thanks him on her deathbed and tells him to open the door. She got her life together with him, it was time to get back to reality and become the Guardian.
That’s also why the falling star happears in the planet, she told him she would follow everywhere in his heart, and a falling star happears (“here I am” she says in the fantasy life).

Engineering CADs and old peripherals with proprietary drivers for me. This cannot be always solved with a VM because either they are graphically intensive or hardware passthrough just doesn’t work for them.
There’s one specific case of Texas Instruments’ software suite for microcontrollers: they have all the tools, the IDE and SDKs available for windows/mac/linux, EXCEPT one stupid old sdk I needed that was ONLY available on Windows for some reason, so I had to use it just for that stupid piece of drivers.
For games I either do games that work on proton, or for extreme cased I have a VM with second GPU in passthrough, and that works quite qell, but cannot do on a work laptop.
