Lots of our battery powered devices have a bunch of literal antennas, though. I actually don’t know the frequency ranges on which an EMP can be expected to “pump out” significant amounts of energy, but if there’s enough in the bands where WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS etc operate that’s going to fry devices that don’t have some sort of protection built in. I also have no clue how common it is for radio modules used in consumer stuff to protect against voltage surges on their antennas, but somehow I’d imagine it’s not very common.

Finland is a deeply racist country and our current far-right government has exactly zero interest in worker demands in general – to the point of limiting people’s right to strike – and they’re going to be especially unsympathetic to pleas from people working for food courier platforms as they’re generally immigrants. The platforms themselves have zero interest in paying people more, as that would likely mean fewer customers and worse revenue.

Nkunda is right in saying that jobs like this are pretty much the only ones many immigrants can get, and this is by design. Most companies won’t hire immigrants (around 50% of our population is extremely conservative and very racist), so the only options left are exploitative jobs that are more or less tailored for immigrants – low pay and terrible conditions that nobody who has a choice really wants to accept.

What I find absolutely mind-boggling (although very on brand) is that Russia has been working on a nuclear-powered cruise missile, the 9M730 Burevestnik. They’re claiming it’s a nuclear thermal rocket, but gods only know if that’s true or not, and your guess is as good as mine as to whether it’s open or closed cycle, ie. doest it blast radioactive exhaust everywhere. Russians being Russians, it’s probably open cycle.

Russians being Russians, they’ve also already managed to have a fatal radiological incident while testing the Burevestnik, with a mere 5 deaths.

Guess that depends on how you define “works”. Russians do a lot of stuff that’s stupid and “works” – see eg. the entire Ukrainian invasion.
