  • We learn who we are and what we want by trying different things. If you aren’t sure about something, try it. And it’s ok to discuss it in advance to set guidelines or expectations if you need to.

The one thing that’s non negotiable is respect. If you invest time in someone you don’t really respect, eventually that time ends up wasted.

If you have trouble trusting, start small. Lay your head on her lap while you watch a movie or something.

  • A person killing another person. People will mourn him. I guarantee someone is crying over this, a child, a parent, a lover. If you can’t see that side of it at all you need to take a step back and think about your humanity.

But as a system… It’s a different story. Sometimes things have to break before change happens, and afterward, people are likely to just think about it in terms of a beneficial change, not the people who didn’t survive the conflict.

  • I just watched a fascinating documentary on Star Trek and they talked about how paramount kept trying to launch their own network on the back of Star Trek as it’s cash cow and how they kept failing because it was all they had on it and not enough viewers.

Problem solved by making all the different kinds of shows into Star Trek, I guess, but how are they going to grow a fan base if it’s all locked behind a paywall that only people who already love it will pay to get through?

  • Hey guys, this right here is a super valuable point to address and really strikes straight to the heart of the ability of a system like this to give the illusion of choice. People absolutely will still think, despite this, they are still in control and we need to address it not dismiss it.

I’m undoing the downvote on this comment, it absolutely is a big part of the conversation, even if you think it’s naive.
