I’ve been working on my Spanish with practice from some of my coworkers and patients. So far Duolingo’s “flash cards” have actually been pretty helpful, but I grant that some of the actual "instruction"isn’t there. I went from really rudimentary Spanish to being able to conduct a patient evaluation in Spanish as long as it’s straight forward.
Everyone shits on Duo but I’ve found it to be a really helpful practice tool myself.

I never used to be a tool guy, but then I finally was able to buy a house. The joy I get doing yardwork and fixing things, especially when I have the right tool for the job, gives me so much joy. I genuinely love going to hardware stores now.

I can’t agree with you more on this. I have used them for years, most recently got one with a scalloped side that fits in your hand so nicely. My son is a cub scout and just got one too, his first pocketknife.

I use Duolingo for Spanish but also practice with Spanish speakers. I also click on the forum stuff for info on grammar, because I don’t think the grammar really comes through in the app if you don’t already know the gist of the rules. Or I look it up in a Spanish text.
But the vocab practice i do find helpful.
