Thanks for sharing! Glad these guys are still putting up the good fight against newag.
Any help on getting the full talk on video? They were still going when the video cut off at 45 min and I can’t find the full version anywhere.
I have a withings and I really like it. Their privacy policy made me feel better about allowing my info on the cloud. You can run it offline (it sends weight via Bluetooth to the app but won’t show 7-day trend an scale screen without wifi). I don’t mind that, so I leave it disconnected. I don’t use a home assistant though so I can’t speak to that part.
I have the withings watch also, so I use the app as my catch all health tracker which works well. it’s nice to have everything together. Can’t speak to any others but I’d recommend withings.
There’s a really interesting video on the Art Deco channel about this painting. It gives a lot of the context around the people in it and the moment it is depicting.
Already working on it. Just need to find someplace I can get a job that will let me work outside the US.
+1 Usual Suspects for sure. That movie blew my mind.
Same. It’s nice to have a way to quickly look through a bunch of options (even if 95% of them are shitty Chinese counterfeits). I’ll even look through the reviews and see if anything glaring jumps out. But I haven’t been a prime member since they put ads in prime video and haven’t really missed it.
Just got Stardew Valley. I’m a little reluctant to start it though- it seems like one of those games I could sink hundreds of hours into and I have a huge backlog. But I’m excited to try it.
The story in Horizon Forbidden West is pretty good too. There’s a whole bit in the dlc about Ted Faro that I did not see coming, but it makes me think a lot of the tech bros running things today.
Oolong, steeped in my tea mug that has a lid on it. Usually with some local honey. Mmmm
Yep. I’ve been working through Horizon Forbidden West,l over the past few days, but before that I’ve been cycling replays of Borderlands 2, Control, South park, Portal 2 and a handful of others older games. Probably will do another Dishonored run this year too. The older games just scratch the itch way more than most of my newer ones.
Statements such as “I just want to have peace in the world” and “Some say they should disarm them, others like to posture. We have it! Let’s use it!” raised serious concerns among researchers, likening the AI’s reasoning to that of a genocidal dictator.
I mean, most of these AI tools are getting a lot of training data from social media. Would you want any of the yokels on Twitter or Reddit having access to nukes? Because those statements are what you’d hear from them right before they push the big red button.
I second How did this get made, though now that Stitcher is gone their back catalog isn’t available anywhere so you have to just get current episodes ( I’m a completionist so that bugs me).
I also enjoy history vs. But I mainly listened to it because of their series on Teddy Roosevelt. It was fantastic. I recommend it , but I think they cover a lot of different topics so YMMV based on the individual series/topic being covered.
Don’t know how I missed this one when I had a PS1 but it would have definitely have been up my alley back in the day. Maybe I’ll get around to getting an emulator for my PC to pick it up again. Could be fun getting back into those old games again - I wouldn’t mind picking up the old Metal Gear 2 game again.
I too feel old now lol
A demolition derby game like wreckfest but without the racing. Leveling, gear, competitions are all focused on destroying other cars and being last one standing.
Bonus if some shenanigans are allowed like you get out of your car and fight other drivers.
Yeah there’s only a couple subtle hints in the regular game and I think more in the dlc. I’m guessing they’ll lean into it more with control 2 now that AW2 is out as well.
Yeah, and that is also scary. There is so little accountability in tech and the excitement over AI is just going to create a new generation of tech bro leaders for Forbes to write cover stories about.
Yes, and I will judge the people using them. I know I shouldn’t because even smart people do dumb things and phones often autocorrect to emojis now but when I see a comment with a lot of emojis my first thought is “that is the language of idiots”.
(Not talking about an occasional smiling emoji, more like the people who use more emojis than words. )
I wish this narrative would get more traction. I don’t get the love for Altman, even inside Open AI.
This whole drama has revealed.what I suspect is a larger problem across tech- that there are product-focused people who are legitimately trying to make tools to better society, and there are people who just want to make money.
Two guesses which type of person is usually in the C suite.
Been making my way through Return of the Obra Dinn. It’s so different from anything I’ve played before. Really neat, though I wish there was some more help/guide info available in game on the mechanics of it. I feel like I stumble into things most of the time.
Well crap. I missed that on the article. I did think it was weird that they kept referring to jaguar and tesla as enemy studios, but figured I was just out of the loop on some industry drama. Lol
