On my main HTPC (the living room 60" screen) I have run Ubuntu as the background OS and auto open Kodi with the Confluence skin. I’ve added a few add on’s for streaming and an add on that spans a Steam instance in Big Picture for my steam games and an add on for Lutris for other games. Lutris takes a bit of fiddling with to get it to run your games (a lot of set up scripts and downloading runners for emulators, but nothing to bad). I added a MCE remote and a IR receiver to move around in Kodi and attached a couple of Xbox Bluetooth controllers for gaming. I boosted my set up by moving my Kodi database on to my server with mySQL so that the librelec’s running in the bedrooms all share the same database but that’s a fancy touch that took a hour or so of set up that you don’t need to do.
I’m not a nerd! I’ve had sex!! with a girl!!! once…

showmeyourkizinti@startrek.websiteto Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Alternatives to Roku/AppleTV for Jellyfin ClientEnglish2·4 months agoI’m kinda of lost with this. I run 3 librelec units on RaspberryPis velcroed to the back of TVs in my house and once I set them up they run easy as. I set them by setting what my network folders are ( I’m a bit of a data hoarder so I’ve got each tv series in their own folders and each movie and their filled in its own folders) and then hitting scan. Is it because of Jellyfin that you’re having problems? I tried setting it up but gave up when I realised I’d have to let it be a server and frankly I don’t trust my in-laws not to fuck up and post all my details on their Facebook to show off their new personalise steaming services.

A sweet gentle game, that really hits the feels. To quote Yahtzee “full of light and wonder and melancholy humor, which does rather juxtapose against the underlying knowledge that our job is essentially to take our passengers one by one into the woods and ice them in the back of the head”

My mom got in AA and turned her life in to a better place but she was starting again from the bottom. My dad didn’t get help and was still using and dealing and struggling last time I heard.
My dream IP? Something based on Brubaker and Rucka’s Gotham Central. A gritty police thriller set on the streets of Batman’s home town. No super powers no special gadgets just ordinary cops dealing with the crazies. It was an amazing comic book series and I’d love to see it as a TV production. Live action or animated.
