I had to give up my retro game collection when I moved and I realized how long overdue it was. I hope someone out there is enjoying my old consoles and games.

I’ve used a bunch of different solutions over the years, but currently I just run Gerbera and it streams my local library to my TVs because of the sheer ease. It’s not perfect, fast forward and rewind can be iffy to get working with some configurations, but otherwise it has been a smooth experience.
Oh, is it time for Sony to self-sabotage again?
Looks cool and is particularly suited to my needs. Thanks for sharing!
Theft of both food and desk items was a huge issue at two different large office jobs I had. In the second one, HR and management didn’t care until someone stole the electronics from the break room and they finally put up cameras. I think the correlation is that those big offices had large phone sales and support staff that works in the building. Those roles underpaid, under-appreciated, and have high turnover. I can definitely see some of those people being on their last rope and not giving a shit about stealing from either the company or people they feel have “cushy” jobs.
Making inedible or spicy food to catch a food thief is a trick as old as time and I have even done it myself. There is no other way to catch them out usually.
I have seen them twice in the last year, but it was only a single bug each time. A sad lightning bug trying to find others to mate… I didn’t see another one around it.
Mine would probably be my ghetto breakfast sandwiches. I usually throw a little shredded cheese, diced onion, and hot peppers into a coffee mug and crack and egg into it and then scramble it. Microwave that for a min while i toast an English muffin or bagel. Then put it together with maybe a thin slice of ham. Excellent breakfast sandwich. People think I’m nuts for making the eggs in a microwave, but it works well, has an easy cleanup, and is super quick in the mornings before work.
quickadilla
While never calling it your excellent “quickadilla” name, I have been doing that with leftover beef and chicken taco ingredients for years. It also works well with some leftover Asian and Indian dishes.
It’s absolutely the defederating that worries me more than the blocking. I have seen talk about nontrivial lemmy instances mulling defederation enough to keep an eye on it though.
Dbzero and programming.dev are already also high on my list, but thanks for the recommendation. I’m not in a super hurry to move or anything, I’ve never been given a hard time on ML, but I hate to think I’m slowly being edged out of the wider lemmy experience.
I have to say the responses in this thread are a bummer, but I’m not surprised. I signed up on lemmy.ml because when I read the descriptions of the various instances, ML’s “A community of privacy and FOSS enthusiasts” sounded pretty great and I saw a lot of technical communities that interested me. I didn’t expect the politics. I tried to make a new user on .world a few months back, but I seemed to get stuck in some sort of user verification limbo. Maybe I’ll try midwest.social since I moved to the midwest recently.
Beholders and Mind Flayers are probably my favorites. As a bonus, whenever someone says “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” I can’t help but ask “but which eye? They have so many!”
The list is honestly bizarre and the rank placements are all over the place. Most of your later examples of that I completely agree with. I just think that the mainline FF games not being on the top 100 list of PC games is fairly understandable, and I say that as a huge fan of the series. Ironically, FF14 is quite literally the only game in the series that I haven’t played.
Regarding the FF games, I think it’s actually fine considering some of the more notable omissions. Most FF games didn’t get released anywhere near when they were relevant.
That is great news if they stick to it. Ttheir WebOS TVs are becoming slimier and slimier.
Most grocery stores sell alcohol in Florida, but only the beer and while variety. Hard liquor is only available in liquor stores. FL is actually a lot less restricted on that than many other states.
Good question and I have a hard time nailing it down to a single pizza.
For the pizza style it has to be either New York style or Detroit Style.
For toppings, it is either pepperoni and black olives, sliced meatball and banana peppers, or rarely since most places don’t make it this way, a buffalo chicken pizza with blue cheese (NOT ranch) instead of marinara and hot sauce.
That’s interesting about using FreePascal for that, I didn’t know there was any toolchain to compile to that SoC. I actually wrote a small set of libraries that ran on top of an existing, but very bare) SDK back in the day for writing GBA games in C. I forgot to grab it and rehost it when Google Code went away and it is now lost to time.
So the minuscule chance of ever seeing the Xeno games on another platform is now gone for good. Wonderful…
