Spider-Man:Miles Morales. Hopefully by the time I beat it Spider-Man 2 will be on Steam and Deck Verified
Spider-Man is good too if you haven’t played it yet. Runs well on the Steam Deck.
Spider-Man Remastered was indeed great! I beat it then went right to Miles Morales. It’s been a Spider-Man kick here haha!
I played it twice in a weekend, so be ready to wait
It will likely be at least a year or two before Spider-Man 2 comes to Steam. It will be about 2 years for Horizon: Forbidden West, and I think that was the fastest one so far.
I’ve started a new playthrough of Fallout New Vegas. Never got round to finishing it last time, so hopefully will do now! So far I’ve added some stability mods and a new radio station. Anyone got any other mod recommendations?
For a long time I went down crazy modding rabbit holes for the fallout games, spending more time modding than actually playing. I finally decided to just pick a setup and stick with it so I could actually enjoy the game. I ended up following this guy’s modlist which has a nice focus on the essentials.
Some of those look nice! I notice that a lot have pre-requisite mods, and those require their own pre-requisites 😱 I’ll see if I can find some easy to install ones
I definitely recommend weapon inertia and the one that makes enemies react to getting shot (can’t remember the name, ragdoll maybe?). They’re subtle changes but make a huge difference in how the game feels!
I’ll give those two a go! Looking into it, I think I’d need the following mods to get these to work, which isn’t too bad:
- B42 Weapon inertia
- Ragdolls
- JIP LN NVSE
- JohnnyGuitar NVSE
- NC Compatibility skeleton
- The Mod Configuration Menu (optional)
One thing I’m not sure about… I installed MO2 on my Deck using this guide which also installs NVSE. But how do I know what version of NVSE it installed? A few mods mention they need a particular version of NVSE.
Looking at the script from the repo you installed 6.2.4. This isn’t the most recent. I think you’d be fine to update (it’s just extracting an exe and a couple dolls to your game directory). I’ve never heard of a mod requiring an older version, so staying with the most recent is probably good practice!
Thanks, I got it working! Well all except the ragdoll mod because that requires you to have all the DLC :(
Most mods require Ultimate Edition, you’ll find.
A bit late, but this list has a number of issues, notably things like ENB. For anyone wanting a minimal mod list, is the gold standard.
I definitely won’t dispute that Viva New Vegas is a gold standard, but with the number of mods that even the base setup pulls in I wouldn’t really call it minimal. I think the person who was asking (and me, the last time I played NV) just wanted a simple set of mods that did the most to improve the experience, which I think that list accomplished better than the others I’d looked at.
Apart from ENB, do you know what the other problems are? I’d guess mostly the result of it being a few years out of date, but genuinely curious!
Asterra’s and WMIM have bugs associated with them.
VNV is very lightweight, and VNV extended is unnecessary if you don’t want to do the whole guide. It really is the gold standard for a reason, the input is as low as it can be for a maximum output, which I’d argue is important for most people, especially considering the problems the Vanilla game has.
It’s all up to you, of course! You can probably use Wabbajack if you wanted to, I don’t actually have a Deck yet but that’s what I’ll do once I grab the OLED model today and it finally arrives.
is a fantastic one stop shop.
My Steam Deck is a “Baba is me” machine right now, most of the time. It is a neat little puzzle game to play while sitting on the couch.
So frustrating at times! Some of the harder puzzles are ridiculously convoluted
Deck is currently being borrowed by my dad to play Zero Dawn, but last I had it, I was using it for Final Fantasy VII Intergrade.
This is so dumb, but:
The new Forza Motorsport has a system where you have to drive a car for like 3 hours before you’re able to upgrade all of the parts on it. Regardless of how many credits you have.
So I’ve been using xCloud to “play” Forza with all of the driving assists on—accelerating, braking, shifting, all of it—just to level up cars to the point I unlock all of the upgrades to that car. (Offline, of course. Not gonna mess up someone else’s game because of Microsoft’s weird ideas on progression.)
So “AFK racing” has been running on my Deck more than any other game this week.
Wow, that sounds awful. Reminds me of shitty mobile games.
Yeah, I guess they were going for “engagement” or whatever metrics look good to the C suite pinheads.
But the actual racing with a properly upgraded and tuned car feels really good! So I enjoy the actual racing, and let the computer do the grinding for me lol
How are you running Xcloud? Are you running Windows?
No but I am running Edge browser. Microsoft has a good walkthrough
My daughter told me I could do this. I might actually get a series S if it’s good.
Problem is, I have toddlers. I have not been able to use my tv in awhile. The Steam Deck has been a lifesaver.
If I touch the tv, just baaaarely touch it, they swarm me. “I want JJ!” says one, “NO DADDY, PINKFONG! No, monkey, yeah monkey.” The other cries, “No daddy, JJ. Pleeeeeaaaase?”
So I just don’t touch it haha.
Dave the diver, casual enough to play just before going to sleep.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen I just wanted to see how well it ran (decently enough, a few more stutters / slowdowns than I hoped but certainly playable) and now it has been the main game I’ve played for several weeks 😅 Game is fun :b
Spiritfarer, which looks like it’s related to Stardew Valley, but turns pretty damn dark at times. Also Baldur’s Gate 3, Stray and Hollow Knight.
BG3 really needs to be played plugged in as it eats battery like crazy and also helps with a bigger screen. At which point I might as well go down to the big computer.
Finally got around to playing Carrion. It’s a great game for the deck and is a massive amount of fun.
Carrion is a pretty good SD game.
Tomb raider 2013. Doing solo at 100%
Binding of isaac
A friend got me into Honkai Star Rail, so that’s been taking up most of my time.
Other than that, I’ve also been playing Black Mesa and Trolley Delayma which is a free little trolley problem game.
I’m still putting off Baldur’s Gate 3 hoping for FSR 2 to be added, but with silence from the devs on when/if that’s being added, I’ll probably go ahead and start playing it soon.
How did you get HSR running on a Steam Deck?
There’s a 3rd party launcher for it. They’ve asked people not to link it publicly, so I’ll send you a DM.
Thank you!
Ni No Kuni II. It’s a fun RPG that’s easy to put down and come back to when you have time. The combat is fun too, though the voice overs are a bit distracting.
I hope to play some more Baldur’s Gate III. I’ll probably stream it from my main computer since the fan noise is so loud otherwise. It’s been a while since tried to run it on the Steam Deck so there might have been some updates, gonna try it again! I’ll probably make some progress in Stardew Valley and Hades too, both wonderful games for the Deck!
Mine has mostly become a YouTube player for my kid. It also runs Roblox, and the occasional Counter-Strike 2.
