What games do you want to play but won't buy despite a deep discount and why?English1·4 months agoI’ve had such a hard time managing to get these games specifically because I’m new to the games side of things. If it’s not against the rules/ you don’t mind answering, which site on the megathread did you use to get it?
Beegzoidberg@beehaw.orgto Do It Yourself@beehaw.org•Building a shelf for my living room3·4 months agoHi, take it or leave it because I’m not very knowledgeable but I did do something like this with my partner. We used a shelf mounting system like this: https://a.co/d/60pkQw2 although I am not sure which exact one we used. I can look if you’re interested.
We determined the location of the support beams, which mapped where we placed the vertical shelf supports. Drilling those into drywall anchors is not an option. Then, we determined the shelf lengths we’d need to fit the space we tried to fill. They sell numerous shelf lengths, so it was a puzzle of where we could support it, how long we wanted it, etc. We have a tv stand below the shelving for our entertainment center stuff and our TV. I’m happy to share more if it helps.
None of this works if you really want to build the whole thing. But, it is easier than doing so and relates to what other commenter have said, this one travels a bit easier because you can use any parts that do fit your next place (which I know isn’t important right now).
Hey thanks for posting this! My trivia guy asked this at the bar last night and I remembered the whole graphic so we won a gift card!
Beegzoidberg@beehaw.orgto Nature and Gardening@beehaw.org•Ceramic pots with no drainage holes1·6 months agoI agree with the other commenter, I tend to use a cheaper steel bit but drill slow with water running over it. If you need support for the bit, you can put a piece of tape over where you’re drilling. It keeps the bit on target and the hole a bit more stable.
Beegzoidberg@beehaw.orgto Nature and Gardening@beehaw.org•Ceramic pots with no drainage holes15·6 months agoI like to drill holes in mine, it’s not always safe to do and you should run a bit of water where you intend to drill to stop the dust, but I’ve saved many pots that way

Beef stew, chili those rice bags you add boiling water to, all make it easy for someone to eat as ling as thry can warm it up. Otherwise, I think you’re doing great.

New Vegas is incredible. But something felt missing from the outer worlds, and I was hoping they would find it in avowed.

(like stromboli or pot pies but meatless and bread dough?)3·9 months agoAgree with calzones, but I like to buy pizza dough, roll it out, slice grooves into each side (leave the middle third unsliced), then add toppings to the middle and wrap it up. You can add Italian stuff in there but you could totally add paneer and Indian spiced tofu, or Monterey jack with taco seasoned chicken or black beans and red peppers and onions, or whatever. I bake it at 375 till it looks good.

Beegzoidberg@beehaw.orgto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What popular product do you think is modern day snakeoil?11·1 year agoExactly:
- It reheats food quickly with a better texture than the microwave
- It keeps food warm once I’ve cooked it and i can use it to keep part of dinner warm while I cook the rest
- It cooks food evenly because it is a convection oven, and starts the process quicker because it is small
- It replaces my toaster
- I can bake one thing in the oven (fish potatoes, broccoli) while the other cooks in the air fryer, especially helpful when they have vastly different cook times and temperatures
Agree with autumn, you really need to try some mosquito dunks down there, it could really help!

Will do!
I cut my indoor basil and mint plants way back because they were making a mess. I hope they bounce back! This week, I’ll go out looking for a couple pepper plants to try kratky for the first time outdoors. Basically, I make a big nutrient solution in a bucket, I leave the plant’s dirt slightly submerged in the water, and hopefully the plant roots into the nutrients and grows like crazy. I have a small backyard and no hose hookup so I want this to be a simple solution to grow red peppers or poblanos’ as well as a spicy pepper like a jalapeño or Thai chili. Step 1 is finding the seedlings!
