Yeah. You never know which type of American you have, but I’d guess the correlation of being on Lemmy is more likely someone that did not vote for fascism. I definitely understand citizens of other countries being bitter and/or upset.

Thanks for the transparency. As I’ve stated in other comments, I am American and I typically have better interactions here than on other social media sites. I really like seeing which community the individual is from and seeing the upvote/downvote ratio. If there is baseless criticism, most of the time it is either dropped when I ask them for more detail, or an actual discussion springs out of it. Finally, I’m a big fan of sh.itjust.works and happy to be here. I wouldn’t have any judgement to give; the internet is harder to tolerate everywhere as more users become bitter and/or hateful.

I’m sorry the people closest to you struggle to give you the space you need when things get overwhelming. Life isn’t made to be easy, and you’ve worked hard for a long time. I hope you get some time for whatever you feel like now that the holidays are over.

People are uncomfortable when a guy expresses negative emotions. Even those that process it well often seem unable to accept it. I hope you (and the rest of you in the comments) have either found a space or a person that you can be yourself around, instead of what everyone else needs you to be.

There is not much else to say. I got a text from “my bank” that a payment was due. They shorthanded the bank name, spoofed the correct area code, and even knew my normal payment date. Nothing is sacred and that’s the new reality.

I tried to have something else lined up each time, but tbh the financial hit from quitting a job where I was overworked was not nearly as bad as how I felt after my job each day. If you have some skills, offer to do oddjobs. Offer to detail friend’s cars, mow lawns, and pump up the quantity of applications.

Ahh, thank you for clarifying. Your point didn’t come across clearly the first time. Most people do only vote for their political party. I don’t agree that it is the prime reason, and there is probably analysis on key issues and primary involvement that could show why people don’t vote split tickets, but it would be nice if we could openly criticise candidates we plan to vote for without it being used destructively online. Tribalism is at it’s peak with social media.

I have no clue why you chose to point at OP’s opinion to claim their thinking is flawed. They clearly have put thought into this post instead of just planning to vote for who has the “right color banner” and are asking for reasons why someone would vote Trump. Why not point out the “slew of baggage” with Harris that would sway you or someone you know to vote for Trump instead of just listing something undistiguishing and then going non sequitur? I’d love to hear it as well tbh.

Rhetoric about scapegoats that distract people from the real causes of their issues, a cult of personality, and lots of money. Additionally, a lot of his voters thought he started to expose the truth behind how things actually run in the government instead of seeing how he is playing them for fools just as much (or more than) other politicians. Mostly though, it’s the money.

Not feeling like that proves selective outrage, as Trump would support and likely increase involvement with the genocide.

The physical location, history, heritage, and burden on the neighbors where you move to matter to me, but can understand prioritizing lives over places to a degree. Someone still needs to hold aggressors accountable though, and a proxy war feels more responsible than getting directly involved risking even more escalation than current. Thanks for responding.

Ukraine didn’t decide on war, Russia did. Also, suing for peace doesn’t really seem to be working for Palestine, does it? At what point would you be willing to fight for what you think is right? Would you risk your life to protect your loved ones from a murderer? I would.

I just started a free character on Dark and Darker since it’s back on Steam. The gameplay loop is satisfying, and I feel ready to start playing teams and learn to fight other players.

I’m on my phone less, commenting more, avoiding more ads, and much happier with the content/comments on Lemmy. Reddit chains sometimes felt a little brain-rotty.
