Great idea! So long as the current safety laws for aviation are followed. That would disqualify most people from flying and dramatically reduce the number of personal vehicles in use.

There’s a lot of cool science stuff on tik tok too.
I know of this largely abandoned project: https://github.com/dmadisetti/steam-tui
I believe that while steam has public APIs for most stuff but there’s no way for a 3rd party client to provide DRM authentication, so the majority of games will not launch unless you also have the official steam client installed (note that steam does have a cli client)., rendering any 3rd party apps either simple wrappers for steam or severely limited.
there’s plenty of “ugly” games here’s some I’ve played recently that came out this year:
Ironically street signage is generally one of the more regulated forms of advertising. Those guys that spin signs were originally there to get around those laws.
I don’t love touch screens on ovens either, but you just press the lock button and then you can clean to your hearts content.
Does worst mean:
Although I’m not American and don’t know your history that well.
Do you think that’s low or high?
Having a fast way of getting announcements to people is important. Everyone from the WHO to official government announcements to musicians with a new album to activists announce(d) things on Twitter. For that purpose the first and foremost thing is maximizing the reach of the announcement.
Now there are a myriad of better platforms for this (irc or a mastodon instance owned by the org) but quite frankly they will never have the same populations as bluesky or Twitter (in the short term) because they are a as you put it a “good” social media that isn’t just about infinite growth.
Be glad that the billionaire actively and openly trying to censor the world is losing out to the billionaore that will leave it alone and sell out again in decade or two. And on the side mastodon picks up the more traditional social media role among those in the know and maybe one day sustainable growth will make it the biggest fish and can take over from the replacement for the replacement of bluesky as the primary announcements channel.
I see some value in this fairly common interaction:
Funnily enough, Sinclair is a common name that came from Saint Clair.
Barring any global events probably. I am quite fortunate.
To start with me and my wife are both sw engineers.
I earn some nice big company stock, from when I started to 5 years later it’s 10x’d. I was a few years late to really hit jackpot but I still made a lot and will hopefully continue to gain. My company also matches the first 6% of my rrsp (a 401k for canadains) and I contribute 8%. I also have a maxed tfsa.
I am a pretty aggressive budgeter so I make sure we spend below our means and build uo other savings as well.
There’s a bit of a “problem” at my company where many of the senior staff basically have blank cheques because only they understand the overall architecture. I hope to also end up in this position. I knew a guy that worked 2 half days a week for at least 2x my salary with vacation time to boot. All he did was answer questions for a few hours then go home.
I bought a house during a panic price drop in 2020 got a really cheap price and then sold it for a huge profit and bought a run down duplex that is a bad investment property but a good place to live for my polycule (in a super walkable neighborhood to boot!). I plan to die in This house. I got what will probably be an all time low interest rate of 1.7% and have been paying it off faster than necessary. When it renews next year at 4-5% I will hopefully keep the same monthly. If my monthly doesn’t grow above that then I’ll be pretty on track to have it paid off before I turn 45, giving me more money to save and also lowering the amount I need a month.
If interest rates go down or me/wife gets some nice promotions or my company stock does another big climb then kids might even be on the table.
Where I live you can either use those cornstarch types or paper bags (very similar to yard waste bags). I like the paper bag for the big bin that goes in the roadside, but cornstarch ones for the one in the kitchen that only sticks around a day or two. Perhaps raise the idea with your local council.
I prefer curbside system because it is able to accept many things that my at home compost can’t handle like dog shit, meats and those biodegradable “plastics” that need industrial facilities. Also apartments.
Out of 10 pro abortion state measures 7 passed (one still undecided i think), and only 1 anti abortion measure passed.
Form an in person community. Focus on fun, then slowly start integrating shared political activism. Use the experience from this to enter local government.
I don’t think you can start with prison reform.
You can’t rehabilitate someone who is stealing out of necessity or because they are mentally unwell. Have to start with providing UBI and universal Healthcare (including and especially mental health and addiction rehab). Probably also should solve homelessness and provide cheap educational options too.
Once that’s in start improving prisons, make them not slums, provide some ways to keep up with the times (an excon with no concept of the internet is not going to be functional in today’s society) and provide job programs and some way of protecting excons from excessive discrimination. The number one metric to measure the success of a prison should be the recitivism rate.
Now maybe after all this is done there’s a few people who cannot be classified as insane and are deadset on committing violent crimes. I will point out that a lot of organized crime would fall apart when there isn’t a fresh supply of disenfranchised people to exploit at the bottom and a lot of white collar crime does not need full exclusion from society more than exclusion from the system they were exploiting.thise few remaining murders and terrorists can go be in prison.
Tldr: to fix prisons you must first fix society.
It has a real ending, Season 3 ends in away that would make if difficult (but not impossible) to continue the show.
I really enjoyed “Travellers” a 3 season showcase/Netflix time travel show where time travellers possess the bodies of people right before they are going to die and try to stop the apocalypse.
I have an unusually wide neck. Shirts, especially dress shirts won’t fit both my neck and my arm length without tailoring. NGL not having to wear dress clothes was a a part of why I choose to do a computer science major and not a regular math major.
Is nan an acronym for something on the asexual spectrum, a typo for man or are you saying grandma’s can’t get it on?
