Sometimes I forget the Steam Deck has a touch screen. I definitely wouldn’t want to support the Deck one handed for more than a few minutes.

Maybe I don’t play long enough sessions for this to be a concern, but I just…hold the Steam Deck. Elbows on the couch is a pretty solid mount lol.

I get that EVs need to make noise, but what the fuck is this? One of the best things about driving something without an ICE is the car doesn’t vibrate at all while it’s on.

This is the second plug-in I’ve read about in the last two weeks that causes major system crashes on the Steam Deck. Why are these little add on tools breaking the whole OS? That’s nuts.

Hype: The Time Quest, a 90s PC game by Playmobil that was a formative part of my childhood. Surprisingly dark story for baby’s first 3D action adventure game. Took quite a bit of work to get it running on Steam Deck, but I’m about 3/4 through it. Starting to lose my patience with the awful fucking tank controls, though. Tried to modernize them a little with Steam Input, but the platforming is killing me.

I’m planning on checking out the Wario Land series myself soon. Recently got a cheap retro handheld and that’s on my list for sure.

Disagree. Tying it to SS just means it’s a requirement for retirees who need government assistance. Rich old people driving the biggest, fastest cars will get to continue driving recklessly. Same thing with the person below who said the test should be incredibly expensive. Disagree. That only hurts the poor who may rely on their car in cities with terrible public transit infrastructure. In-car driving tests should simply be mandatory every few years for all drivers.

That’s the feature I’m hoping for. Maybe I’m misunderstanding how the constant record feature works, but I really only want to keep maybe the last 5-10 minutes in temp storage, but it’s holding way longer than that for me.

Psychonauts 2. Was a huge fan of the original on PS2 and I can’t believe it’s taken me years to try the sequel. The animation, level design, and writing are all at the level of quality and creativity that I wanted to see videogames progress to some day when I was a kid. This is a playable DreamWorks film.

I don’t even remember the last time Stephanie Sterling did anything like this, so it was just a weird blip. Not that she doesn’t goof a bunch. Still a great channel to stay up to date on the things that actually matter in the games industry instead of the usual hype machine shit. The only thing I don’t care for on the show is the wrestling stuff and when the editor does some schtick.

I re-played the first a few years back and it’s one of the very few games I’ve 100%'d. Despite the years long gap since my last time playing, it still felt like I just jumped back into the world. So far I’m liking the new characters, but I do miss the original cast of camp kids.

I will say the constant references to the in-between VR exclusive game is frustrating. That feels like a crucial bit of story being dangled over my head that I know I’m never going to see because a VR headset is just not in the cards for me for at least the next few years. Maybe I just need to watch a Let’s Play.

This is probably one of the more active communities I’m in, actually. Lemmy’s just not that big, I guess? And that’s fine with me. I don’t need an endless scroll of posts daily. I catch up on my subscribed pages within 20 minutes each day. But if someone wants to encourage more conversation I’m all for it.

As for what I’m playing this month, I just got a used Steam Deck and that’s dramatically opened up opportunities for me to play through my PC games that I haven’t gotten around to. Started Psychonauts 2 and I’m pretty impressed with how little Double Fine had to change since 2005. It feels like 20 years just never happened and it’s so far a very natural progression of the first game. Having a great time with it.

It’s weird how much I disagree or agree with different parts of this statement.

1. She deserves her sentence. She should never be allowed to drive again for running over two children at twice the speed limit, trying to drive away with their blood all over her car as they die on the street. I don’t believe in prison as punishment in general, but she had her chance and turned a mistake into a double homicide. I think a better and much funnier sentence would be only being allowed to use the Metro for the rest of her life.
2. Yes, the street design is a problem and you’re absolutely correct that if a street allows drivers to go 80 mph, some inevitably will. This can and should be resolved. Narrow the road, add an island, sidewalk curb extensions, there are many options and any could have naturally slowed this maniac of a driver down to a speed where being struck isn’t an immediate death sentence.

Call it whatever you want, but all I see is a weirdly unexpected avenue for potential solidarity against a major arms manufacturer. Hell, I’ll call it woke if it helps turn Americans against the fuckers building bombs.

Steam is already the biggest fish by far in the digital games market for PC. Only reason for them to do this is if they’re worried about losing that dominance. Basically, is Epic keeping them up at night enough to warrant a major push into a new hardware loss leader?
